Talking FE are proud to announce that our next live webinar ‘The Impact of AI in Further Education will be taking place on Wednesday September 11th 2024.
According to FE Week, “the number one request from educators is further training and guidance” on the safe use of AI. The aim of this webinar is to directly respond to this request and tackle some of the biggest questions that surround the use of Artificial Intelligence in education.
Our first guest speaker at this event will be Sharmen Ibrahim, Group Director of Digital Education at Activate Learning. Sharmen is an established voice in the world of Digital Education, and most recently played a key role in drafting Activate Learning’s AI position statement, one of the first of its kind in the FE sector. Sharmen is also a recipient of the prestigious Oxford High Sheriff Award. Sharmen will co-deliver a talk with her colleague Kim Blanchard, Activate Group Head of Digital Development and AI. Together Kim and Sharmen will be addressing questions concerning AI’s potential impact on the relationships and social connections that traditional learning offers.
Dr Gary Fisher will be also sharing his thoughts on how AI has transformed other key sectors, and how these changes may be used to forecast possible shifts in the world of FE. Dr Fisher is the University of Derby’s Learning Design and Online Practice Manager, and has a wealth of experience in discussing AI and its possible impacts on the education sector. Dr Fisher will also be giving attendees an insight into an ongoing research project that is investigating the risks of bias and discrimination when using Generative AI in an educational setting.
AI is here to stay, and it should not be ignored.
