Did you know: £800m additional funding can be used for enrichment and wellbeing hours?

As part of the government’s commitment to a long-term education recovery plan, £800m is being invested into the sector across the next 3 academic years to fund 40 additional learning hours for students in 16-19 education.

What can the additional hours be used for?

Colleges are permitted to use the funding to deliver:

  • planned teacher/tutor led qualification activity

  • support to build study skills and exam resilience

  • enrichment activities and opportunities for students to build social connection

  • transition support into 16 to 19 education and new environments

  • educational support to cope better within education settings

  • one to one therapeutic work delivered by a trained mental health specialist
